It's always a fine time making music at the coffee shop! Every week we sing and play, including many favorite sing alongs and lively tunes. The friendships we have made doing these weekly gigs are precious!

St Patrick's Day at Reds 395 in Carson City

Making music for the St. Patrick's Day revelers at Red's Old 395 in Carson City with Wendy Ray, Irish flute and Sue Jesch, fiddle. It's a yearly tradition at to Wear the Green with Gairin at Red's on 3/17. It's always a wonderful time, with corn beef and cabbage, green beer and Irish music. That's Pat Lindsay in the photo, too. Strings in the Schools

Strings in the Schools Workshop with Sue Jesch

Helping Sue Jesh with this gigantic workshop is an exciting honor for us! Sue immediately loved Mary Kay's idea of having the students create their own Celtic bands. On this day, ten new Celtic bands debuted their final performances.

Something else exciting: one of the bands chose to play and sing Mary Kay's song The Bells of Ireland. We loved being invited by Director Sue Jesch to help teach Celtic tunes to the students at this annual workshop and at regularly scheduled practices in Carson City. Our thanks for thse photo mementos goes out to Carl Harmon.

The Motley Madrigals

Our part singing and theatrical acting troupe, The Motley Madrigals delight audiences at Renaissance Faires at Lake Tahoe, Northern California and Nevada. Motley being a perfect name for this group of multi-colorful stage personalities, the Motlies include Chris Taylor mandolin, Amanda Taylor actress, Tom Aufrance vocalist and strings, Pamela Taylor Shakespearean actress and vocalist, Mary Kay Aufrance vocalist, and John Roos vocalist.

Tahoe Shakespeare Festival

Regaling the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival with madrigal singing fellow vocalists of the Reno Opera Chorus and Reno Philharmonic Chorus.

Accordion and Irish dancers

Mary Kay and these world-class Irish dancers got the attention of Reno Gazette journal at Pembrooke Renaissance Fair in Carson City, Nevada.

Tom mandolin and Carlaena accordion

Carlaena tries out the accordion, with Tom on octave mandolin. Carlaena Kondor added her penny whistle playing to Gairin Celtic Music, before she fell in love and started a family. We love playing and performing with Carlaena!

Thank you to Leslie Fudge for this lovely formal image of us from our performance of Rennaissance duets at the Winter Renaissance Fair, Reno, NV USA. Leslie is director of several vocal groups, from early music to jazz. For this performance we joined with Leslie Fudge vocalist, Bill Hecht pianist and composer, Susan Mazer harpist and Dallas Smith flutist.
