Tom and Mary Kay Aufrance · Live in Marquette

Music Night at Seattle's Best Coffee Shop

Tom and Mary Kay play music at Borders bookstore coffee shop

It's always a fine time making music at the coffee shop! Every week we sing and play, including many favorite sing alongs and lively tunes. There's a regular group of Celtic music lovers who always sing along and enjoy our coffee shop show. The friendships we have made doing these weekly gigs are precious! Thank you to Jens of The Carsonist for this image.

Wearin' the Green on 3/17

St Patrick's Day at Reds 395 in Carson City

Irish music and green beer on tap for the St. Patrick's Day celebration at Red's Old 395 in Carson City with Wendy Ray, Irish flute and Sue Jesch, fiddle. It's a yearly tradition at to "Wear the Green with Gairin" at Red's on 3/17. It's always a wonderful time, with corn beef and cabbage, green beer, our Irish music and friends! That's Pat Lindsay in the photo, too. Many thanks for the photo to our friend Don Lindsay.

Strings in the Schools

Strings in the Schools Workshop with Sue Jesch

Helping Sue Jesh with this gigantic workshop is an exciting experience for us! Sue immediately loved Mary Kay's idea of having the students create their own Celtic bands. On this day, ten new Celtic bands debuted their performances. In this image, Mary Kay and Tom play a lively Irish tune with the students and parents cheering their kids on.

Students play Mary Kays Bells of Ireland

Something else exciting: one of the bands chose to play and sing Mary Kay's song The Bells of Ireland. We loved being invited by Director Sue Jesch to help teach Celtic tunes to the students at this annual workshop and at regularly scheduled practices in Carson City. In this image, Sue, Tom and Mary Kay play an Irish tune with the student groups. As part of the workshop, the members of each group chose their own name for their Celtic band, and the names are posted on their music stands. (Our thanks for these photo mementos goes out to Carl Harmon.)
