A full house welcomed our annual performance of Celtic music for Christmas with Silver Strings of Carson Symphony on Brewery Arts Center theater stage, Carson City, Nevada.
Christmas Songs and A Child's Christmas in Wales
What a truly lovely and varied performance of Christmas music and theatrical flair. Our opening act featured Christmas songs and music throughout the ages, including delightful descriptions of song histories, especially featuring Celtic Christmas music.
It was a treat to perform Mary Kay's original song "The Bells of Ireland" especially because the musicians on stage with us were the inspiration for her song, which tells the story of playing music together and enjoying each other's company during the Winter months.
This performance highlight was a complete theatrical and musical presentation of Dylan Thomas' "A Child's Christmas in Wales." Carson Symphony Conductor David Bugli arranged and conducted this lovely rendition. Cedits: Rita Geil - actress, Tom and Mary Kay Aufrance of Gairin - vocals accordion guitar arrangements, Ellie Bugli - violin, Sue Jesch - violin, Marie Groves - viola, Lou Groffman - cello, Alan Lee Harvey - flute, David Bugli - conductor arranger composer pianist.
And, for the grand finale we presented some fun and also togetherness. David Bugli channeled his Welsh heritage to delight the audience with his "Fear Schneacta" or "Man of Snow" on the Contra Bass Penny Whistle (more like a tuba). Then, it was the beloved song "Auld Lang Syne" throughout the ages, including a prolog of Tom and Mary Kay singing to the original tune, and finally all the audience joining in on the current version we all know so well.
